Report from Michael: The show was outstanding, just him and his guitars
(3); his voice was in good shape, his guitar playing was excellent (much better
than his last show here in Portland, at the Aladdin Theatre, in March). I
believe it was the setting: a world class zoo. Packy, our pachyderm, just
celebrated his 40th birthday in May. He was/is the first elephant born in
captivity; both a sad and a good thing. The elephant exhibit is at the opposite
end of the ampitheatre, opposite the stage end. I go to a lot of shows there
and the elephants really groove. They will sway (dance?) to the sounds of
Pink Martini, Otmar Liebert, and Riders In The Sky. Tower Of Power will be
here July 19th. Those elephants are gonna rock baby!
I'm getting side tracked, sorry. It was a full house (approx. 4000), it was
80 degF, 50% RH, 60 deg F dew point, perfect! During the breaks, Bruce talked
about Portland, not having his bike available, walking around our town, getting
lost and enjoying it! He ended the show with World
Of Wonders. He said that they were at the curfew and could not play any
longer because Shawn Colvin used up all the time. Then he said, "let's
give Shawn a big hand." That was a very class act, as you would expect
from an artist such as Bruce, and I will say I enjoyed Shawn a lot. Anyway,
we had a very enjoyable time, and I got another $40 parking ticket (and so
did my girlfriend), this time for STAYING IN THE PARKING LOT TOO LONG!!! We're
going to beat these!
