artist named Jody Reynolds. The tune was his biggest hit, in 1958. It was the first of what were to be a string of teen death songs (like "Tell Laura I Love Her" and "Teen Angel"). It's a ballad about suicide. Bruce told a story about this being one of his dad's favorite songs when Bruce was growing up. - Russ Cole
